Meet the women of Las Nubes
We recently returned from an amazing trip to Nicaragua where we met with a number of coffee farmers, toured co-ops, coffee mills, and began building some amazing relationships. The photo above is from the community of Las Nubes, in the mountains north of Matagalpa. This community has formed a small co-op of coffee farmers, run by the women you see in the photo. They produce some amazing coffee, and we’re excited to be bringing you a limited supply of coffee from small producers such as Las Nubes. We anticipate this coffee being available in Late August or September.
Of course, we’ll still be offering our flagship Uganda Bugisu coffee, as well as continuing our clean water projects in Uganda. Nicaragua is simply an expansion of our existing work in Uganda.
Another important part of our trip was understanding the needs of the communities. We had meetings with the commnities to understand, directly from them, what is needed most. Unlike Uganda, 85% of people in Nicaragua are fortunte to have access to clean water. What they lack are proper sanitation facilities and education for their children. These are two areas that we’ll be working with communities – using their coffee to improve their lives. More details to come soon!
Finally, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support you have shown over our short two year history. We’re amazed an what’s happening in Uganda, and we’re so excited to be at a point to be able to work with another country. Without your support none of this would be possible. You truly are changing lives on a daily basis!
Sincerely,
The Three Avocados Team
